Glenville House is a four star guest house property situated just off Church Street (A591). Ideally located just a short walk from both the centre of Windermere and Bowness at the heart of the English Lake District. This traditionally built Lakeland-stone house sits in its own gardens; the atmosphere is relaxed and tranquil. Upon entry guests will be immediately aware that Glenville still holds a lot of its original character. All 6 bedrooms are of a comfortable size. Consisting of 4 Classic Doubles and 2 Superior Double rooms, which have been refurbished in early 2007. Classic rooms have King sized beds. Superior rooms are even larger and have a bath and shower in the en-suite, one of these rooms is located on the ground floor overlooking the front garden and the other has a Super King sized bed. All rooms have en-suite facilities with luxury toiletries and bathrobes provided. Widescreen flat TV with Freeview, CD clock/radio and an enhanced welcome tray, which is replenished daily. At the Glenville staff believe it is important to start the day right, and the delicious freshly cooked Traditional Cumbrian Breakfast, with many locally produced ingredients takes some beating, vegetarians and special diets are catered for if guests inform the hotel of their requirements upon making their booking. With over 70 restaurants and eating houses within a 10-minute walk of Glenville House, guests will be spoilt for choice for dinner each evening. Windermere is the central location for tourism in the Lake District and Glenville House is ideally situated a couple of minutes walk from the main village, with its excellent shops, fine restaurants and bistros. From the doorstep there are many walks without the need to use a car. An easy walk down into Bowness and there is the home to the world of Beatrix Potter. Walk throughout Bowness to the lakeshore where you will find the pier that takes the lake cruises from Bowness to Ambleside, or Lakeside where you can enjoy the Aquarium of the lake or journey a little further on one of the steam trains on the Haverthwaite and lakeside railway. There are many things to do to suit all tastes within easy reach either by car or on one of the many trips organised in the area guests are truly spoilt for choice. Glenville House are delighted to recommend visitor attractions, and are sure a visit to any one of them will make your stay more enjoyable.
